About the Author

Lt. Richard Bryan Robinson, retired from the Memphis Police Department, always had an interest in guns. But he was pained because so many children were getting hurt or killed by guns. He created EBONY AND TYRONE in a coloring book for little kids so that they could get the message about guns and what to do if they found one at home.

Dear Law Enforcement Executive,

I hope this message finds you well. My name is Richard Bryan Robinson, and I am a retired Lieutenant with 25 years of service in the Memphis Police Department. I am reaching out to introduce you to my newly published book, Tyrone & Ebony: What to Do When You Find a Gun at Home, a child-friendly resource designed to promote firearm safety and responsibility, particularly in households where children may be present.

Throughout my career, I saw firsthand the impact of accidental gun injuries and the critical need for initiative-taking education in the home. This book addresses those concerns by offering a practical, engaging, and easily understandable narrative for young readers. The story follows children who find a firearm at home and are taught how to manage the situation safely, empowering them—and their families—to take responsible action when faced with such a discovery.

I strongly believe that Tyrone & Ebony can be a valuable tool for law enforcement agencies like yours to use in community outreach efforts, school programs, or as part of your overall public safety initiatives. It offers families the knowledge they need to prevent accidents, while also supporting officers in building trust and positive relationships within their communities.

some of the key benefits of the book:

  1. Promotes Gun Safety: Instructs children and adults in practical steps for safely handling firearms found in the home.
  2. Strengthens Community Relations: An excellent resource for officers to distribute as part of educational outreach programs or during community interactions.
  3. Supports Family Safety: Helps parents and caregivers understand the importance of responsible firearm storage and how to educate children on gun safety.
  4. Written by a Veteran: As a retired law enforcement officer, I bring both professional experience and a genuine commitment to public safety and education.

I would be honored to discuss how Tyrone & Ebony could help your department to further enhance public safety and awareness. If you are interested, I’d be happy to provide a sample copy for your review or answer any questions you may have.

Thank you for your time, and I look forward to the opportunity to contribute to your important work in keeping your communities safe.
